I have never been to Fuji Hiro and it was bit of an impromptu visit after work worh a colleague, the restaurant was quiet as we were early around 4.45pm. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table, the waiter had to explain how the sushi starter worked as we weren't sure, the food was delicious 😋 not enough wine options and no cider options at all, I had a glass of Merlot which was pleasant. We had a 3 sushi starter to share and then Katsu Curry and Terryaki beef for mains, prices were reasonable, the bill came to £48 for a starter to share, two mains with rice a merlot and diet coke.
Been here on countless occasions with friends and we’ve always had a great time. The menu really offers something for everyone, whether vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or fully fledged meat eater there is something for you. The staff have always been lovely and the restaurant always feels very intimate and cozy.
A Leeds institution and one of the originals that's evolved over the years but is still the cozy little place selling amazing food it always has.
Reservations are highly recommended due to the small number of covers and the popularity but they'll often be able to squeeze a couple of people in at the bar.
The menu has just been updated and simplified to the "greatest hits" and the bento box was different last night to the one I took photos of in December but I'd say for the better.
I've never been disappointed in the 20 or so years I've been going and even though Leeds has many other places doing similar now it's still my "go to".
